Memphis Band Elmo and The Shades
|
Elmo and the Shades is comprised of some of Memphis' best-known and most talented musicians, including drummer Lawrence Harper, bassist Freddie Mooney, horn players Tommy Lee Williams and Mickey Gregory (who were both members of 'house bands' at legendary Stax Recording and Hi Records), and the world reknown Larry Lee, who performed with Jimi Hendrix live on stage at Woodstock (and was later the guitarist and band-leader for another Memphis Soul Legend, the Rev. Al Green). Elmo and the Shades' Lead singer, Robert Lee "Elmo" Thomas, is a big-voiced blues shouter who weaves his Delta style harmonica playing into the tracks for an authentic blues feel. Elmo and his band are long-time well respected veterans of Memphis Music! We've booked Elmo and the Shades at various venues and functions for over a decade, without a complaint! If you want soul and blues, Elmo and the Shades may be just what you're looking for!
